Grow Your Collection with Tiny Art
This week I went to drop off a tiny piece of art for the first art show I've taken part in since high school.
Walking into that gallery and seeing all the other hopeful and nervous artists, I felt comradery. I felt light and calm, It was that quiet feeling of contentment when you know you're aligned with what you should be doing. It felt good. I could see that just like me the other artist waiting in line to drop off their works were worried that their stuff wasn't good enough. But it was! We had already gone through the submissions process and every single one of us was accepted into the show.
It's a small step in the right direction. With a small piece of art among a whole show of tiny art!
Walking along the full tables of paintings and drawings I saw so many skilfully created pieces. I did feel a twinge of worry and possessiveness. As if I'm the only person with hopes of an independent art career. But the feeling disappeared just as quickly and all I saw was a lot of beautiful work by many people who poured their souls into what they do.
I'll tell you more about the show as soon as I have info to share. Look out for it in my next couple of blogs. The image you see is also a sneak peek at what the painting is.
This is going to be a great show for new art collectors because it brings together a huge number of emerging artists all in one room. There will be a large variety of styles and content. If you're just starting out as an art collector this a a good way to figure out your own taste. Because ultimately the way to improve your eye for art is to see a whole lot of it. And by going to a group show you get to kind of fast track that process.
